Rosario ready to welcome nations for 2026 SCAHC beach handball championships
12 Feb. 2026
10 teams from five nations will travel to Rosario, Argentina for the 2026 edition of the South and Central America Handball Confederation (SCAHC) Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball Championships later this month.
From Saturday 14 to Tuesday 17 February, La Florida beach will welcome the men’s and women’s teams of Argentina (ARG), Brazil (BRA), Chile (CHI), Paraguay (PAR) and Uruguay (URU) as they seek to become continental champions and grab a qualification spot for the 2026 IHF Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships, set for Zagreb, Croatia in late June.
The championships will be played in an initial round-robin tournament format, with teams in each gender playing each other once. The top four teams then play off in the semi-finals, then respective gold and bronze medal matches.
The men’s competition will see both finalists take a spot in Zagreb. Brazil enter Rosario as favourites, thanks to their IHF Beach Handball Global Tour success late last year.
Thanks to Argentina’s women’s team recent impressive showings on the world stage – runners-up at the 2024 IHF Women’s Beach Handball World Championship in China and winners of The World Games – they enter the women’s competition as strong favourites, with the added incentive of being hosts too.
2026 is the fourth edition of the continental event and takes place in a city which hosted the 2019 South American Beach Games and the 2022 South American Youth Games.
