Romania and the Netherlands finished third in their main round groups, finishing this phase on a high, with clear wins over Sweden and Germany, progressing to the Placement Matches 9-12, with a chance to finish in the top-10 of the final standings.

Germany vs Netherlands 26:29 (14:20)

The Netherlands made a blistering start and looked determined to bounce back from their defeat to Spain. The Dutch quickly took control, opening a 6:3 lead after just seven minutes before gradually extending the gap to 10:6.

A major factor behind their strong start was goalkeeper Camay Berkhout, who produced an outstanding first 20 minutes with a 50% save efficiency, repeatedly denying Germany the chance to build any momentum.

Germany tried to respond and came closest when they reduced the deficit to 8:10, but the Dutch quickly regained control. Led by Ivana Kwakman, who scored six first-half goals, the Netherlands restored their four-goal cushion and went into the break leading 20:14 after a high-scoring opening 30 minutes.

The second half brought little change in the teams' approach. Germany briefly reduced the gap to 24:20, but every time they threatened to build momentum, the Netherlands had an answer. Jane Overbeck and Meggan Rusko led the German attack, combining for 16 of their side's 26 goals, yet they received too little support elsewhere on the court.

The Dutch extended their advantage to 29:23 in the 57th minute, effectively putting the result beyond doubt. They eased off in the closing stages, allowing Germany to finish the match on a 3:0 run and soften the defeat.

The victory sends the Netherlands into the 9–12 Placement Matches, improving on their 16th-place finish at the previous edition. They will face Japan next, while Germany head into the 13–16 Placement Matches against Slovenia. After finishing fifth in 2024, Germany are now guaranteed only their second-ever finish between 13th and 16th place, having previously ended 14th in 2010.

Sweden vs Romania 24:30 (14:17)

Hungary's win over the People's Republic of China a few hours earlier ended Romania's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals, but the hosts finished the main round on a high. After defeating Sweden, they finished third in Group III and will head to the 9–12 Placement Matches, while the Scandinavians, who suffered their third consecutive defeat, will play in the 13–16 Placement Matches.

Romania took early control of the game, opening up a 4:2 lead after five minutes. Sweden drew level several times but were unable to move ahead, while their opponents used a 3:0 run to build a 12:9 advantage. With right wing Diana Lefter scoring four times in the opening half, the Romanians maintained a three-goal cushion at the break, leading 17:14.

Sweden's left wing Maja Ström scored five goals in the first half and added three more after the restart to finish as the match's top scorer, but her effort was not enough. Romania remained firmly in control throughout the second half, although their 20:16 lead early after the restart remained unchanged for five minutes, with neither side able to find the net.

Romania's goalkeeper Arianna Ardeleanu delivered another solid performance, making 12 saves for a 44% save efficiency, and proved to be a key factor in her team's success. The hosts shared the scoring responsibilities, with 11 players finding the net and none of them scoring more than four goals.

In the 51st minute, Romania extended their lead to six goals at 25:19 and had no problems seeing out a well-deserved 30:24 victory.
