Raucous reception for World Champions Denmark

For the fourth consecutive time after an edition of the IHF Men’s World Championship, Denmark’s golden team received a hero’s welcome in the Rådhuspladsen in capital Copenhagen, celebrating their unprecedented fourth consecutive world title, won in spectacular fashion at Croatia/Denmark/Norway 2025.

The handball-mad country, which had the privilege to witness greatness at home for the preliminary round and main round in the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, celebrated their heroes on Monday evening, when Denmark came back from Oslo.

After touching down at the Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup, at 15:09 CET, Denmark embarked on a tour, which finally led the team coach by Nikolaj Jacobsen to the Rådhuspladsen, where thousands of fans had already gathered to celebrate the achievement.

“This is a fantastic experience. You should be aware that because you are standing here, my players and I will love our handball sport and our little Denmark even more than we already do, because you are helping to give us such an experience,” said Denmark’s coach, Nikolaj Jacobsen, who became only the second coach in history to win four titles at the IHF Men’s World Championship.

At the Copenhagen Town Hall, the Denmark team was greeted by His Majesty The King Frederik, as well as the Lord Mayor of the Danish capital, Lars Weiss. The winners were greeted with the traditional Town Hall pancakes, and then were congratulated for their achievement.

“Yesterday you lifted the World Championship trophy for the fourth time in a row. That has never happened before – congratulations on the gold from me too. The entertainment value is unheard of when you take to the field. Your pace, technique and timing are unparalleled. Opponent after opponent has been run over when they have faced you,” said His Majesty The King Frederik.

Then, one by one, the Denmark players came and lifted the trophy in front of the fans, celebrating their humongous achievement, as the Scandinavian team became the first to win the title four times in a row, with an unprecedented streak of 37 unbeaten matches, dating back to 2017.
