In the beginning, the game that would determine the team to claim the third main group spot was tied,but Poland soon pulled away from Cameroon to clinch their first win of this championship.

Poland had a solid game, putting their strengths on display after two painful losses. With this victory, they follow RHF and Serbia into the main round while Cameroon will continue in the President’s Cup.

Cameroon vs Poland 19:33 (7:16)

Poland’s Romana Roszak opened the game in the first minute for her team. In the beginning, the teams traded goals as Cameroon were able to answer all the Polish efforts immediately. After five minutes, the game was tied at 3:3. Besides Roszak, Sylwia Matuszczyk contributed significantly, allowing the Poland team to pull away slightly. In minute 19, Laeticia Petronie Ateba Engadi scored the last goal for Cameroon in the first half – after that it was all Poland. At half-time, the European team were up by nine goals, leading comfortably 16:7. 

Cameroon were eager to start the second half and, indeed, they started with a lot of energy. Karichma Kaltoume Ekoh and Ateba Engadi scored for the African side but Poland remained strong and were able to bounce back. Even though the 7m shooting was still something that could be improved, the overall statistics look a lot better compared to the first two matches. Roszak was unstoppable tonight and scored on a fast break to make it 21:10 for Poland. Cameroon also made several solid plays and will have a fair chance of winning their first game at this World Championship in the President’s Cup, but tonight – like RHF and Serbia previously – Poland were too strong as opponents. 

In the final 10 minutes, both teams used their time to shine – without any impact on the outcome of the game, though. Poland won 33:19 in the end with hummel Player of the Match Karichma Kaltoume Ekoh being the top scorer of the game for Cameroon with nine goals. 

Poland will join RHF and Serbia in the main round, while Cameroon will compete in the President’s Cup.
