Nominations for IHF positions for upcoming elections

The IHF Council, in its last meeting in Basel, Switzerland on 4 June 2025, unanimously confirmed the nominations of the candidates for the IHF Council positions who will stand for re-election for the upcoming term of office (2025-2029) as per Article 13.7.3 of the IHF Statutes:
- President: Dr Hassan Moustafa (EGY)
- Treasurer: Anna Rapp (SWE)
- Executive Committee Member: Narcisa Lecușanu (ROU)
- Chairperson of Playing Rules and Referees Commission (PRC): Per Morten Sødal (NOR)
- Chairperson of Commission of Coaching and Methods (CCM): Dietrich Späte (GER)
- Chairperson of Commission for Development (CD): Tomislav Grahovac (CRO)
Furthermore, the IHF Council took note of the proposals for the first-time candidates who shall be nominated by their respective Member Federation according to Article 13.7.3 of the IHF Statutes:
- 1st Vice-President: Philippe Bana (FRA)
- Executive Committee Member: Francisco V. Blázquez García (ESP)
- Chairperson of Commission of Organising and Competition (COC): Pascal Jenny (SUI)
- Chairperson of Medical Commission (MC): Dr Mossus Yannick (CMR)
The elections will take place during the 40th Ordinary IHF Congress scheduled to be held in Cairo, Egypt on 21 December 2025.
Under the leadership of IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa, the growth of handball has reached unprecedented heights, transforming the sport into a truly global phenomenon—expanding its reach to 211 Member Federations, introducing innovative rule changes for a faster, more attractive game, and elevating the IHF World Championships to record participation and viewership, all while fostering talent and opportunity for nations across every continent.
