Next ticket sales phase for the 2027 IHF Men’s World Championship scheduled
03 Jun. 2026
The 2027 IHF Men’s World Championship in Germany is coming closer: One week before the preliminary round draw on 10 June in Munich, the German Handball Federation (DHB) has announced the next steps in the ticket sales process. Once the preliminary round groups have been drawn, fans will know which nations will face each other at the respective venues and will be able to purchase tickets for those matches, subject to availability.
The subsequent third ticket sales phase for the tournament will begin on 4 September at 12:00 noon (CEST).
“The demand for tickets to the 2027 IHF Men's World Championship remains high. Following the draw, fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets with knowledge of the match-ups. In addition, the participating nations will receive the ticket contingents allocated to them for their supporters. Any unused tickets from these contingents will subsequently be returned to the general public sale, creating further opportunities for handball fans to be part of this tournament,” says Mark Schober, Chief Executive Officer of the German Handball Federation.
This third sales phase will include remaining tickets from nation contingents that are not fully used after the draw, as well as seats with restricted views. Tickets for Germany’s route through the tournament – from the preliminary round in Munich to the main round in Cologne – as well as for the final weekend in Cologne are expected to remain unavailable.
At present, all currently available tickets for Germany’s preliminary round matches in Munich and the possible main round matches in Cologne have already been sold. Several matchdays at other venues are also fully booked, while tickets remain available for a number of non-German matchdays. These include, among others, matches in Preliminary Round Group E featuring Sweden in Kiel, as well as selected matchdays involving Croatia in Group C in Munich.
The fourth and final ticket sales phase will begin on 1 December 2026 at 12:00 noon (CET). At that stage, tickets released from potentially lifted venue and broadcast restrictions, as well as any remaining inventory, may be made available. This could also represent the final opportunity to purchase a limited number of tickets for matches involving the Germany national team. No additional tickets are planned for the final weekend in Cologne.
The next major milestone on the road to the World Championship is just around the corner: On Wednesday, 10 June, beginning at 18:00, the preliminary round draw will take place at the Hofbräuhaus in Munich. The event can be watched on the IHF YouTube channel (georestrictions might apply). A full list of broadcasters will be published on the IHF website.
