08 Jul. 2026
A new edition of the IHF World Handball Magazine – Tech, now dedicated to the 2025 IHF Women’s World Championship in the Netherlands and Germany, has been issued.
Packed with technical analysis, tactical insight and high-level performance studies, the new edition offers an in-depth look at one of the most competitive editions of the women’s flagship event. The magazine brings together the expertise of the IHF Game Analysis Team and leading contributors from across the game, providing readers with valuable material for coaching, refereeing and player development.
Among the highlights is a general analysis of the 2025 IHF Women’s World Championship, exploring the key trends that shaped the tournament and the evolving demands of elite women’s handball. Another chapter examines performance criteria for attacking play in men’s and women’s handball, offering a comparative look at how offensive structures continue to develop across the game.
A detailed study of offensive actions in empty-goal situations across the 108 matches of the championship sheds light on the growing importance of attacks without a goalkeeper, the seven-on-six scenario which has improved its efficiency over the last years, while another contribution focuses on better quality in attacks without goalkeeper, underlining how teams are adapting to these fast-changing scenarios.
The new edition of the IHF World Handball Magazine – Tech also includes an individual analysis of the Japanese team, with a forward-looking assessment of how the Asian side can move closer to the world’s top eight in the future. In addition, readers will find a technical-tactical analysis of the final between Germany and Norway, providing a closer look at the decisive elements that defined the gold medal match, eventually won by Norway.
The new issue of the IHF World Handball Magazine – Tech, as well as the previous editions of the IHF World Handball Magazine – Tech and the IHF World Handball Magazine can be digitally read on the IHF Education Centre website.
Refereeing is also given due attention through a dedicated chapter on officiating at the 2025 IHF Women’s World Championship, written by Per Morten Sødal, Chairman of the Playing Rules and Referees Commission, while another feature examines two of the tournament’s standout players, Henny Reistad of Norway and Bruna Almeida de Paula of Brazil, with a focus on their individual excellence and influence on the competition.
As always, the magazine is supported by the work of the IHF Game Analysis Team, with contributions from Paul Landuré, Jorge Dueñas, Jochen Beppler and Dietrich Späte, and editorial coordination by Dietrich Späte.
The IHF World Handball Magazine – Tech continues its mission to provide high-quality technical education and to support coaches, referees and handball educators worldwide. The new edition, together with previous ones of the magazine, is available digitally through the IHF Education Centre, which offers a wide range of learning materials for all levels of the game.
