New Caledonia's junior team snatch narrow win at Women's IHF Trophy Oceania

On Thursday, 19 October, three more matches were played at the Women's IHF Trophy Oceania in Nouméa, New Caledonia.

In the only encounter in the youth (U17) tournament, Tahiti shared spoils with New Zealand, 17:17. New Caledonia, who had already secured the title, had a rest day. 

The home side has the maximum of six points after three matches and on Friday, they will face New Zealand, who have one point, at 15:00 (local time). Tahiti finished the tournament with three points. 

Two games were played in the the junior (U19) competition. In a tight fight, New Caledonia snatched a victory against Australia, 15:14, while Tahiti proved too strong for Cook Islands, winning 18:11.

New Caledonia continue to lead the race with six points, followed by Tahiti and New Zealand, who both have four points. Australia are on two points, while Cook Islands ended the tournament with zero points. 

On the last match day, Australia meet Tahiti at 13:00, and New Caledonia meet New Zealand at 17:00, as the hosts need at least one point to secure a title.
