“Much to be excited about” – co-hosts celebrate conclusion of DEN/NOR/SWE 2023

On Sunday afternoon the closing media conference for the 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship took place at the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, Denmark.

Speaking on behalf of all three co-host nations – Denmark, Norway and Sweden – Jan Kampmann from the Danish Handball Federation said:

“On behalf of the three host countries; Denmark, Norway and Sweden, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the IHF for awarding us this world championship and allowing three countries to organise it together for the first time in history.

“It has been a good and trusting cooperation between the Scandinavian countries and the IHF throughout the whole process, along with the involvement of the municipalities and arenas.

“I would like to say a big thank you to the approximately 2,500 volunteers who have made an indispensable effort to lift such a large event as the IHF Women’s World Championship: without you, there is no world championship.

“Our slogan has been ‘Aim to Excite’ and if one has looked at the excitement in the eyes of more than 317,000 spectators who have experienced the world’s best handball players up close, then there is no doubt that we have succeeded.

“We have tried to take the spectator experience to a new height with lots of fan zones, full of activities for the whole family and have had a strong focus on the work with sustainability, with everything from waste sorting, to an electric vehicle fleet.

“These fantastic athletes will inspire young people to engage in sport and become part of handball’s strong social communities across the globe.

“Handball brings us together across age, social background and geography in the sheer excitement of emotion that only sport can provide.

“We are proud to have taken part in this beautiful promotion of handball and look forward to putting the final touch on it with the presentation of a brand new IHF World Women's World Championship trophy tonight.

“We Aim to Excite and there is much to be excited about for all of us who love the best game in the world.”
