MOL becomes event partner of the 2025 and 2027 IHF Women’s World Championships

The MOL Group, one of Europe’s leading energy companies based in Hungary, has been announced as an event partner of the 2025 and 2027 IHF Women’s World Championships. This partnership – made possible by SPORTFIVE, the exclusive marketer of the global media and marketing rights to all IHF World Championships until 2031 – highlights the MOL Group’s dedication to promoting women’s handball.

As part of the partnership, MOL will receive extensive advertising rights during the IHF Women’s World Championships. These include a prominent presence through floor stickers on the playing field and LED perimeter advertising in the halls, among other assets. These measures send a clear signal of support for the visibility and appreciation of the sport, making MOL an integral part of match days during the tournaments. The partnership will focus on core markets in Europe. MOL is particularly looking forward to the 2027 IHF Women’s World Championship in Hungary.

“For MOL, supporting the 2025 Women’s Handball World Championship is not just a sponsorship but a regional commitment. Handball is a cornerstone of our sports strategy, and with multiple MOL Group countries competing, this tournament offers a powerful opportunity to bring our communities together and strengthen our presence in a sport that inspires millions across Central Europe. Looking ahead, we are equally proud to support the 2027 World Championship, which will be especially meaningful as Hungary takes on the role of host nation”, says Peter Pantl, Group Corporate Communications & Marketing Vice President at MOL.

Dr Hassan Moustafa, president of the IHF, adds: “We are delighted to welcome MOL as a new Event Partner for the IHF Women’s World Championships in 2025 and 2027. Their strong commitment to supporting women’s handball is a significant boost for the sport and its growth globally. It also confirms the status of the World Championship as the pinnacle event in handball. Together, we look forward to delivering unforgettable events that celebrate the spirit of female athletes worldwide.”

“As a leading energy company in Central and Eastern Europe, MOL is the perfect partner for the IHF Women’s World Championships,” says Robert Müller von Vultejus, Chief Growth Officer at SPORTFIVE. “Together, we are sending out a strong signal in support of women’s handball and sustainable development. MOL’s commitment to social responsibility, coupled with our shared vision, enables us to increase the visibility of the sport in an ever-changing market – for athletes, fans and society.”
