Porto Santo in Madeira, Portugal is once again home to the EHF Beach Handball Champions Cup with the 2026 edition taking place on the Portuguese island for a fifth, consecutive year.

32 men’s and women’s teams (16 in each competition) representing 11 European nations will be present at the four-day event (15 to 18 October) with all games streamed live on the ehfTV.com paid-for subscription service.

Last year, Fundación Fomento Deporte CBMP Ciudad de Málaga and Nazaré BHT took the women’s and men’s titles respectively, GRD Leça being defeated in both finals.

The 2026 event is the 12th edition of competition which brings together top beach handball clubs from across the continent.

The format is the same for the men's and the women's competitions which starts with a round-robin preliminary round featuring four groups of four teams. The top three teams advance to the main round, which will be played in two groups of six teams each. The best four teams of each group will meet in the quarter-finals on Saturday, before the placement matches, semi-finals, and finals will be played on Sunday (18 October).

In the men’s competition, five different teams have won the title in the last five year, while in the women’s competition four different teams have won the last five editions – The Danish Beachhandball Dream winning gold in both 2023 and 2024, and who will be present at the 2026 edition.

Almost all teams have players with international experience, including the German men’s champions 12 Monkeys Köln BHC who have a number of Germany’s 2026 IHF Men’s Beach Handball World Championship winners in their squad, just like Portuguese team, Associação Desportiva – ADG who feature players from the Argentina team which won the 2026 IHF Women’s Beach Handball World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia earlier this year.
