With the first match at Egypt 2021 only two days away, teams have started to arrive in Egypt for the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship.

Having scheduled two friendly games against hosts Egypt, Japan were the first to touch down in North Africa on 3 January.

Cairo International Airport and Alexandria International Airport will be busy in the next 72 hours, with the other 30 teams scheduled to arrive in Egypt over the next three days.

“The Cairo International Airport is on alert and ready to receive all delegations just as they have received the Japanese team earlier this January,” said Deputy Director of the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship, Khaled Fathy.

13 January

Almost all teams left to arrive in Egypt will do so today on the opening day of the 27th IHF Men's World Championship.

The last team to arrive today, IHF Men's World Championship debutants Cape Verde, landed at Cairo International Airport a little before midnight.

The Hungarians have landed in Egypt.

Russian Handball Federation Team landed in Alexandria ahead of their opening game tomorrow night.

Wild Card recipients Poland landed in Egypt before their first game tomorrow night.

The European champions landed in Cairo this evening as they look to getting back on the World Championship podium since 2013.

After a long trip across the Atlantic Ocean, Uruguay landed in Cairo to take part in their first IHF Men's World Championship.

Morocco landed in Cairo this morning just before 9:00.

12 January

A handful of teams are scheduled to arrive today in Cairo and Alexandria under strict health and safety precautions.

2019 IHF Men's World Championship bronze medallists France, and 2019 IHF Men's World Championship silver medallists Norway, arrived in Cairo this evening.

The Swedish team delegation arrived in Cairo yesterday which was followed by a training session after going through safety protocols.

Germany and Austria arrived together on a charter flight in Cairo after playing each other in a Men's EHF EURO 2022 qualification match on Sunday.

Another North African team arrived this afternoon, Algeria.

The Tunisia team delegation arrived in Cairo this afternoon.

Denmark, with 2019 IHF World Championship Most Valuable Player and three-time IHF Male World Player of the Year Mikkel Hansen, arrived in Cairo this afternoon.

With Croatia and Slovenia ready to start the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship in Alexandria, the two sides shared a charter flight from Zagreb, Croatia, and touched down at 14:20 at Alexandria International Airport.

Chile were the first team to arrive today in Cairo at 2:40 on a flight from Istanbul, Turkey, after departing from Skopje, North Macedonia, where they played in two friendlies against North Macedonia.

11 January

Five teams arrived on Monday, beginning with Argentina in the early morning. Four other sides – Portugal, Iceland, Belarus and DR Congo – touched down later in the evening in Egypt with all the health measures in place for the teams and the players’ safety.

The Belarus team delegation arrived late in Cairo on a flight from Kiev, Ukraine after travelling from Minsk.

After meeting twice in the Men’s EHF EURO 2022 qualification phase 2 last week, Portugal and Iceland landed at 8:10 PM. The two sides will also face off on 14 January at New Capital Sports Hall.

After a training camp in France, where they also played a friendly against Tremblay-en-France Handball, DR Congo arrived in Egypt after a flight from Paris at 20:05.

The Argentina team delegation arrived in Cairo at 2:40. The team arrived from Moscow, after taking part in a friendly tournament where they faced the Russian Handball Federation Team and Spain, winning their first ever game against the reigning European champions (25:19).

The first team delegation, Japan, arrived in Cairo at 10:25.
