LA28 Volunteer Program opens Games-time applications on 14 July 2026
16 Jun. 2026
The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games will open applications for its Games-time volunteer programme on 14 July 2026, with fans from around the world invited to apply to join the LA28 Volunteer Crew ahead of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
The programme, presented by Delta Air Lines, will play a central role in delivering the 2028 Games, with around 60,000 volunteers expected to support the event across venues and operations. The Olympic volunteer period will run from March to August 2028, followed by the Paralympic volunteer period from August to September 2028.Â
“Volunteers are the backbone of the Games,” said LA28 Chief Executive Officer Reynold Hoover. “They are a friendly face who helps welcome the world, create memorable experiences and bring the Olympic and Paralympic spirit to life.”Â
Interested applicants can learn more and register for updates via the LA28 Volunteer page. Those who have already expressed interest will receive details on the next steps required to be considered for a Games-time role.
Global call to volunteers
The LA28 Volunteer Crew will support a wide range of functions, from welcoming spectators and athletes to assisting with more specialised tasks such as medical support and language translation. Volunteers will be needed primarily in the greater Los Angeles region, but also at Olympic competition sites across the United States, including Oklahoma City, New York, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San José and San Diego.
Applicants will be able to indicate their preferred location and any special skills that could qualify them for a specialised role. Those who have already expressed interest in the programme will receive an email with the next steps once the application process opens.
Community engagement already underway
The LA28 Volunteer Program was launched in 2025 with two pathways: community volunteering in the present and Games-time volunteering in 2028. Since then, LA28 and Delta Air Lines have staged more than 25 community volunteer events with local non-profit partners across the Los Angeles region.Â
Those activities have included beach, street and trail cleanups, habitat restoration and food-packing initiatives for people in need. The Games-time volunteer drive now builds on that wider community programme as LA28 continues its preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A milestone for Los Angeles 2028
LA28 described the volunteer programme as part of its wider effort to mobilise the community behind the Games while creating a welcoming environment for athletes and fans. The organisation also emphasised that volunteer applications must be completed in full to be considered for a Games-time role.Â
Los Angeles 2028 will bring together more than 15,000 athletes and will mark the city’s third time hosting the Olympic Games, after 1932 and 1984. It will also be Los Angeles’ first Paralympic Games.
