IHF strikes key partnership with Trivago for Poland/Sweden 2023
09 Dec. 2022
The leading global accommodation comparison platform trivago has been announced as the official Online Travel partner of the 2023 IHF Men's World Championship in Poland and Sweden. The partnership was brokered by sports marketing agency SPORTFIVE, responsible for the exclusive marketing and media rights across all IHF World Championships until 2031.
This is the first time trivago has struck a partnership with the International Handball Federation, highlighting the interest in the world handball flagship event, which will take place between 11 and 29 January 2023 in nine venues in Poland and Sweden, bringing together the best 32 teams in the world.
In addition to the title of Official Online Travel partner of the IHF Men's World Championship 2023 Partner, trivago secured indoor floor graphics with the logo of the company on the court, as well as the presence of the logo in the official social media communication and print materials of the tournament.
This new sponsorship expands trivago's commitment to the shared values of sport and travel. The company is most known for its sponsorship of the English Premier League's Chelsea Football Club and a recent collaboration with an American ticketing platform for live sports and entertainment events, AXS.
"The IHF Men's World Championship is a unique opportunity for thousands of fans to meet and celebrate," says trivago CEO Axel Hefer.
"The competition shows that sport and travel have a common goal: bringing people together! We believe that this partnership with the International Handball Federation is a great match for trivago," added Hefer.
Ahead of the 28th IHF Men's World Championship, we are delighted to share the news of our partnership with Trivago. Our fans travel from all around the world to watch their team perform and it is our wish that they enjoy this experience to the full. Now, thanks also to our partnership with the official IHF TV and Marketing Rights Partner SPORTFIVE, we can make that true," says Dr. Hassan Moustafa, president of the International Handball Federation.
