On Monday, 13 April 2026, IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa welcomed EHF President Mr Michael Wiederer and EHF Secretary General Mr Martin Hausleitner to the new IHF House in Basel, Switzerland, for a comprehensive bilateral meeting aimed at reinforcing the strong institutional relationship between the two federations.

The wide-ranging discussions covered several topics including, but not limited to, competition organisation, World Championship qualification formats, the proposed European Handball Games, the new EHF Champions League structure, Beach Handball and Wheelchair Handball development, partnership relations with the EOC and IPC, anti-doping, and development aid initiatives.

The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to continue the close and productive dialogue that has long characterised the IHF–EHF partnership, built on mutual respect, shared values and a common vision for the future of handball worldwide.
