Handball dates confirmed for 2025 Junior Pan American Games

The second edition of the Junior Pan American Games will take place in Asuncion, Paraguay from 7 to 23 August with Handball at the heart of the continental multi-sport event for those born from 2003 to 2013.

Ahead of the official opening ceremony on Saturday 9 August at La Nueva Olla Stadium in Asuncion, Handball throws-off on Sunday, 10 August, with games taking place until the penultimate day of the competition, 22 August. A rest day will be observed on 16 August.

The qualification process for the event has already begun, with Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay qualifying through, thanks to their podium finishes at the 2024 South and Central American Men's Junior Handball Championship which took place between 29 October and 2 November in Managua, Nicaragua.

The first edition of the Junior Pan American Games took place in Cali, Colombia in 2021, with Argentina’s women and Brazil’s men winning their respective competitions at the Ivan Vassilev Todorov Arena.

Handball is one of 28 sports across 43 disciplines at the event which is set to feature 4,206 athletes from the 41 member countries of Panam Sports. Amongst those sports and disciplines are four new sports: Field Hockey, Golf, Rugby and Waterski / Wakeboard and two new disciplines: BMX Freestyle and Basketball 5v5.

A number of venues will host the sports in the Paraguayan city, including the Olympic Park, SND Arena, Encarnacion, San Bernadino, Rakiura Resort and the Bahia and Costanera de Asuncion.
