The second day of the 19th IHF Men’s Club World Championship will see a full card played in the New Administrative Capital Hall, with all 10 teams in the line-up featuring on the court.

Title hopefuls Füchse Berlin and FC Barcelona make their debut, while Veszprém HC are playing in their back-to-back against Al Ahly, in the headliner of the day.

FC Barcelona are back at the IHF Men’s Club World Championship for the 12th time in 19 editions, having won the title a record six times.

The Spanish side – the reigning champions and the title holders of the Machineseeker EHF Champions League – will open their campaign against Brazilian side E.C. Pinheiros, who are returning for the first time since 2021, when they ended up fourth.

Pinheiros have the youngest roster in the competition, averaging 23,3 years old, with no player older than 29 years old, therefore being underdogs against a star-studded side, who boasts the fourth largest scorer in the history of the competition, Dika Mem, as well as experienced stalwarts like Timothey N’Guessan, Aleix Gomez or Blaz Janc.

In Group A, Moroccan side Montada will also make their debut in the competition, facing Egyptian team Zamalek Club. Zamalek have secured a 40:17 win against Los Angeles Handball Club to secure their place in the Group Phase, and look like the stronger side, facing a team with little experience at this level.

In Group B, Füchse Berlin make their long-awaited return, three years removed after finishing second in the competition. Their first match will be against debutants Burgan SC, the Asian champions, with Mathias Gidsel ready to shine on the court once again.

The other match will be a true derby between hosts Al Ahly and Veszprém HC. The Hungarian side, a wild card for this edition, runners-up in 2025 and champions in 2024, have already played their first match, taking a 45:19 win against Sydney Uni.

Xavi Pascual, who is also the Egypt men’s national team coach, will face some of his players from the national team, in a crunch clash, the highlight of the second day at the 2026 IHF Men’s Club World Championship.

The two sides also met last year, when Veszprém took a comfortable 31:22 win. It will also be a battle of two Spanish coaches, with Al Ahly having David Davis on the bench and a team formed fully of Egyptian players.

Earlier in the day, the opener will be the Placement Match 9/10 between Sydney Uni and LA HC. The two losing sides in the first day will play two matches against each other, deciding their placement at the end of the competition.
