Former IHF Secretary General Raymond Hahn turns 95 years old

The former IHF Secretary General, Raymond Hahn, now the honorary IHF Secretary General, turns 95 years old on Wednesday, 13 March 2024.

A trailblazer of the sport for more than half a century, Mr Hahn started playing handball as a young boy, at local club, Racing de Strasbourg. In 1953, he founded the handball section of the ASPTT in Strasbourg and then went on to have an excellent career in administration.

Mr Hahn served as the vice-president of the French Handball Federation and was also a member of the office of the French National Olympic Committee between 1984 and 1981.

He also served as the Treasurer of the IHF between 1984 and 1990 and took over the position of  Secretary General of the International Handball Federation between 1990 and 2004. Hahn is also an Honorary Secretary General of the IHF, underlining the big contribution he had for the sport of handball, as well as the contribution he had to the development.

His main tasks at the IHF were promoting handball in Africa, worldwide advanced education for handball managers, development aid on all continents and intensifying IHF media work. From 1991, he succeded in publishing the World Handball Magazine, which was praised by the IOC.
