Five teams to battle for coveted title at the 2025 NACHC Women's Handball Championship

The 2025 NACHC Women's Handball Championship, a qualification event for the 2025 IHF Women’s World Championship, will take place between 7 and 12 April, in Mexico’s capital, Ciudad de Mexico, with five teams present at the start.

Canada, Cuba, hosts Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States of America are the teams which are at the start, with only the winners making it to the world handball flagship competition.

The competition will be played in a round robin format, as in the first day of competition, 7 April, Canada will face Puerto Rico, while Mexico are due to take on the United States of America, in a clash which will likely determine the two side’s fate in the competition.

After the preliminary round will be over on Friday, with each team having played four matches, the top four sides will advance to the final round, with the bronze medal match seeing the third and the fourth-placed sides collide, while the final is to be played between the top two sides in the preliminary round, due to meet again in the winner-takes-all scenario.

Cuba and Puerto Rico have each won the competition twice, with the former side taking the titles in 2015 and 2019, as Puerto Rico clinched the titles in 2017 and 2021.

Greenland, which beat Canada in the previous final, 17:15, and won the title in 2023, have not lined up at the start.

All the five participants have finish on the podium already at least once so far in the history of the competition, with Puerto Rico and Mexico each having three medals, Ciba and the USA two medals each, while Canada secured their maiden medal in 2023, with the silver.
