Fan Village in Dortmund to provide excitement during the 2025 IHF Women's World Championship
25 Aug. 2025

As the countdown to the 27th IHF Women’s World Championship continues, excitement in Germany and the Netherlands is steadily building. Fans from across the globe are set to gather in five host cities – Rotterdam and s’Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands and Dortmund, Stuttgart and Trier in Germany - between 26 November and 14 December 2025 - but nowhere will the vibrant spirit of international handball be more evident than in Dortmund, where an exclusive Fan Village will offer a festive, immersive experience for supporters of all ages.
Located near the iconic Westfalenhalle, Dortmund’s Fan Village has been specially designed to serve as the social and emotional center of the tournament’s Germany matches. As the city prepares to host the main round and two quarter-finals of the competition, with up to 12,000 fans filling the arena, the Fan Village will unite supporters before, during, and after the games - creating camaraderie and unforgettable memories.
Visitors will be treated to an interactive programme that goes far beyond watching the matches on big screens. Theme days will spotlight different cultures, countries, and handball traditions, allowing fans to experience global unity and diversity. Young and old alike can participate in handball challenges, skill games, and special activities celebrating the sport’s dynamism and inclusivity.
On 2 December, the first day when Dortmund hosts a match in the main round of the 2025 IHF Men’s Youth World Championship, an All-Star Day is planned, a meet-and-greet with some of the biggest names in handball. Also planned are a BVB Day, a day dedicated to volunteering, and a family day.
A special highlight is prepared for 5 December, where handball fans are expected to show up at the Fan Village powered by 21, where the evening's theme will be "HANDS UP & DANCE." A true party for the entire handball family will kick off immediately after the last match of the day. André Schnura, Germany's most famous saxophonist since last year's football EURO, will be the featured guest, getting the crowd pumped up.
A diverse food court will showcase Dortmund’s culinary flair and international flavors, making the Fan Village a destination for food lovers as much as for sports enthusiasts. Families will find plenty to enjoy, with hands-on activities, games for children, and dedicated zones for relaxation and socialising. With entertainment for all ages, every day promises a festival atmosphere.
Handball legends, current stars, and special guests will make appearances throughout the event, signing autographs, hosting meet-and-greets, and sharing their passion for the game. Unique photo opportunities and official 2025 IHF Women’s World Championship merchandise will ensure that every visitor goes home with a souvenir of their Dortmund experience.
