Eight teams line up at the start of the 2024 CAHB African Men’s Junior Handball Championship

The 31st edition of the CAHB African Men’s Junior Handball Championship will take place between 9 and 16 September, in Mahdia, Tunisia, with eight teams at the start, vying for the coveted crown of continental champions.
Four teams – Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Nigeria – have been crowned champions so far, with the first two sides, Egypt and Tunisia, winning the last 15 titles, with the last edition won by another side being in 1990, when Algeria secured their second crown.
Eight teams will line up at the start of the competition in Madhia, Tunisia, with two groups of four teams each forming the preliminary round, with every side progressing to the quarter-finals, where the top team in each group will face the fourth-placed side in the other group, while the second-placed teams meet the third-placed teams.
In Group A, reinging champions Egypt, which won the competition 13 times, including the last two editions and three of the last four editions, will be favoured against Morocco, Guinea and Mali.
In Group B, hosts Tunisia will be facing Algeria, Libya and Rwanda, as they aim to secure the first place in the final standings and enjoy an easier path towards the grand final, where they have not qualified to since 2018.
The preliminary round will take place between 9 and 11 September, the quarter-finals are scheduled on 13 September, the semi-finals on 14 September, while the final and the bronze medal match are due to be played on 16 September.
The 2024 CAHB African Men’s Junior Handball Championship is also a qualifying event for the 2025 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship, which is due to take place in Poland.
