Eight teams to do battle at the Euro Hand 4 All wheelchair handball competition
01 Jul. 2026
The fifth edition of the traditional friendly competition Euro Hand 4 All will take place between 2 and 4 July in two locations in France, Écully and Tassin, with a record number of eight teams at the start – underlining the growth in wheelchair handball throughout the world.
This will be a warm-up event for the 2026 IHF Wheelchair Handball World Championship, which will take place between 16 and 20 September in Granollers, Spain.
Two continents will be represented in the Euro Hand 4 All competition – Europe and North America – with seven European sides plus the runners-up from the 2024 IHF Wheelchair Handball World Championship, the United States of America, taking part in the competition.
Portugal will undoubtedly be one of the favourites in this competition, where they won three of the four titles, in 2022, 2023 and 2025, conceding the final against Spain, 21:22, in 2024.
The eight participating teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each, with the top two sides in each group advancing to the semi-finals. The winners of each semi-final will then progress to the final, where the winner will be crowned.
Portugal have been drawn into Group A, where they face crunch matches against the United States of America, Norway and Lithuania.
In Group B, hosts France will face Hungary, Spain and the Netherlands. Spain have finished on the podium three times, with a third place finish in 2022, a second place in 2023 and the first place in 2024, while ending up fourth in 2023, when this edition saw Portugal, France and the USA finishing on the top three places.
"This tournament will be very motivating for the whole team. It's an excellent preparation for the World Championship. We'll be able to try new things, experiment with different player rotations, and take risks that could generate new areas for improvement before we head off to the World Championship," says Fabien Convers, France's coach, for the official website of the French Handball Federation.
All matches can be watched free of charge on the Euro Hand 4 All YouTube channel.
