International Handball Federation (IHF) President Dr Hassan Moustafa attended the XVI Gala of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) on Wednesday 15 December, which took place in the Auditorio Alfredo Goyeneche in Madrid, in the presence of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain.
All the Spanish medallists from the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 were celebrated during the ceremonies, including the Spain men’s senior national team, who took home the bronze medal. Former centre back Raul Entrerrios, left wing Angel Fernandez and coach Jordi Ribera were present also on site to accept the award. Spain defeated Egypt in the bronze-medal match 33:31 to claim their first podium finish since Beijing 2008.
Additionally, Dr Moustafa met with COE President Alejandro Blanco and Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM) President Francisco V. Blázquez García on Thursday 16 December.
The three parties analysed the successful organisation of the 25th IHF Women’s World Championship in Spain in four different venues – Castelló, Granollers, Llíria and Torrevieja – and also discussed the strengthening of the relations between the IHF, COE and RFEBM.
