COVID-19 Medical Precaution Plan Egypt 2021 updated

The IHF has released an updated COVID-19 Medical Precaution Plan Egypt 2021.

The original Plan, released on 27 October, has been revised in consultation with the IHF COVID-19 Medical Task Force, the Egypt 2021 Medical Commission and the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population after further dialogue and analyses with World Championship stakeholders and top medical professionals.

The Egypt 2021 COVID-19 Medical Precaution Plan now elaborates in more detail on its general competition-related guidelines, which define medical and operational protocols to safeguard players, coaches, team officials, referees, match officials and other stakeholders during events.

Notable updates to the plan include, for example, further details on what happens in the case of a positive test result and the inclusion of a 'bubble zone' in each arena. This zone will allow, amongst others, media representatives to work under close to normal circumstances. (Further information about the media accreditation process will be published in due course.)

“As the situation with COVID-19 evolves, so do our preparations and assessments,” said IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa. “I would like to thank everyone involved that helped us update the COVID-19 Medical Precaution Plan and I look forward to a safe and successful World Championship.”
