Courses in Burkina Faso and Australia

In the beginning of October, the International Handball Federation sent lecturers to Burkina Faso and Australia aiming to develop and promote handball in the countries.

From 1 to 8 October, IHF lecturer Gilles Malfondet travelled to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso to hold an Olympic Solidarity course which was organised in a cooperation with the national handball federation and the National Olympic Committee. Around 30 participants took part in the course and were educated, amongst others, about the organisation in defence and attack, goalkeeping and the rules of the game. Besides the theoretical and practical sessions, they had the possibility to watch the womenā€™s champions of Burkina Faso during their preparation for the African Club Championship.

IHF lecturer Dr Zoltan Marczinka travelled to Sydney, Australia from 4 to 9 October to educate 15 coaches, 10 men and five women. Most of the participants played in the Australian Championship and a few coached their state teams. The course was divided into 10 theoretical and 5 practical sessions, with the demonstration team consisting of the course participants. Their level was appropriate to the content of the course and their training attitude and enthusiasm were excellent according to Dr Marczinka.
