11 teams will line up at the start of the 2025 CAHB African Women’s Youth Handball Championship, a qualification event for the 2026 IHF Women’s Youth World Championship, which will also act as the African Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy Women 2025.

The 11 teams lined up at the start of the competition by Algeria, in the coastal city of Oran, have been divided into two groups of five and six teams respectively, with the throw off taking place on Sunday, 14 September, and the final being scheduled one week later, on 21 September.

The top two teams in each group will progress to the semi-finals, scheduled for 20 September, also securing their berths for the 2026 IHF Women’s Junior World Championship, with Africa having four places reserved in the next year’s competition.

Egypt, the winners of the last five editions, will once again line up at the start, as well as Angola, three-time winners in 2009, 2011 and 2013, while Guinea, runners-up in the previous two editions, will also try to secure another medal.

In Group A, Tunisia, Angola, Nigeria, Benin, Madagascar and Kenya will fight for the two semi-finals berths, with Tunisia and Angola looking the strongest between the six teams.

This event will also serve as the African Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy Women 2025. Five teams, which have won their Zones throughout the year, will be at the start of the competition, with the winners of Zone II – Guinea, Zone III – Nigeria,  Zone V – Kenya, Zone VI – Zambia and Zone VII – Magadascar taking part in the competition.
