Colombia to host IHF Trophy South and Central America - South American Zone

While the matches of the Central American Zone of the Men’s IHF Trophy South and Central America have already finished, now it is time for the South American Zone to throw off. The competition at both the youth and junior age categories will be held from 23 to 27 April 2024 in Palmira, Colombia.

The teams from six countries – Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela – are ready to take place in both tournaments. All the games will be staged at Pabellon Blanco in Palmira, and the winners of both events will qualify for the Continental Phase of the IHF Trophy South and Central America.

In both events, the teams will be divided into two groups. At the youth (U18) competition, Venezuela, Colombia and Bolivia play in Group A, while Paraguay, Peru and Ecuador compete in Group B. At the junior (U20) tournament, Paraguay, Ecuador and Venezuela make up Group A, while Colombia, Peru and Bolivia will compete in Group B.

The group stage will last until 25 April, and at each age category, two best teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, which are scheduled for 26 April. On the same day, the sides ranked third in their groups will fight for the fifth overall position. The finals as well as the third-place encounters will be held on 27 April.
