Chad's junior and youth teams claim opening wins at IHF Trophy Zone 4 Africa

Tuesday 21 May was the first day of the Men's IHF Trophy Zone 4 Africa competitions in Yaounde, Cameroon, and four matches at both the youth and junior age categories were held.

In the youth (U18) tournament, 14 goals from Kenfack Nkoatomb lifted home side Cameroon to a hard-fought win against Congo, 49:47, and Chad defeated Central African Republic thanks to a strong second half, 43:37.

Therefore, Cameroon and Chad lead the race with two points. On Wednesday, these two teams face off at 16:00 (local time), and two hours earlier, Congo play Central African Republic.

Chad and Cameroon have already met in the junior (U20) event, and it was Chad who defeated the hosts, 37:34, as their player Henri Nadjingai scored 11 goals. Congo also started with a win, as they had the upper hand against Democratic Republic of Congo, 29:17.

TheĀ Central African Republic enter the race on day two, as they take on Chad at 12:00, and at 18:00, Cameroon meet Democratic Republic of Congo. The team from Congo have a rest day.Ā
