The group stage at the Women's IHF Trophy InterContinental Phase in Tashkent, Uzbekistan has finished, and the semi-finalists at both age categories have been decided. 

In Group A of the youth (U18) tournament, Nigeria became the first team to reach the semi-final, claiming two consecutive wins: 28:23 against Guadeloupe on Wednesday and 29:14 against New Caledonia on Thursday. On Friday, New Caledonia defeated Guadeloupe 25:19 to progress as well. 

In Group B, Uzbekistan opened the competition with a 36:19 victory against Guatemala on Wednesday, but on the next day, Kosovo defeated the home side 27:21. And on Friday, Kosovo proved too strong for Guatemala, 31:12, so both Kosovo and Uzbekistan went through. 

Both semi-finals will be held on Saturday 2 March, as Nigeria face Uzbekistan at 13:00 (local time), and Kosovo meet New Caledonia at 15:00. On the same day, Guadeloupe and Guatemala play for the fifth overall position at 9:00.

In the junior (U20) event, Great Britain proved too strong for Peru on day one in Group A, 40:12, and on the following day, Guinea defeated Peru with an even bigger margin, 53:11. So Great Britain and Guinea reached the quarter-final even before their mutual encounter, in which the European team won 26:21. 

Home side Uzbekistan were dominant in Group B, beating Mexico 45:26 and New Caledonia 43:17. On Friday, Mexico had the upper hand in a do-or-die encounter against New Caledonia, 17:15, and also went through. 

In the semi-finals on Saturday, Great Britain meet Mexico at 17:00, and Uzbekistan face Guinea at 19:00. In the fifth-place encounter, Peru play New Caledonia at 11:00.

The final matches as well as the bronze-medal games at both the youth and junior tournaments will be held on Sunday 3 March.
