Accra to host IHF Trophy Men Zone 3 Africa

The first IHF Trophy Men tournament in 2024 is about to start in the capital of Ghana, Accra, as four youth and six junior national teams will compete at the IHF Trophy Men Zone 3 Africa from 20 to 24 February 2024. All the matches will be staged at Borteyman Multipurpose Sports Hall. 

The teams from Benin, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo will participate in the youth (U17) competition, and the teams from Benin, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Togo will play at the junior (U19) event. The winners of both tournaments will secure their tickets at the IHF Trophy Men Continental Phase Africa.

At the youth competition, four teams will hold a round-robin tournament between 20 and 22 February. After that, the two best teams will meet in the final on 24 February, and the day before, the two other sides will face off in a third-place encounter.

The format of the junior event is different, as six teams are divided into two groups. After the preliminary stage, the two best sides from each group proceed to the semi-finals, which are scheduled for 23 February. On the same day, the teams ranked third in the groups will fight for the fifth overall position. The final as well as the bronze-medal match will be held on 24 February.
