2025 IHF Women's World Championship: One week to go
19 Nov. 2025
The wait is almost over. After two years, the IHF Women’s World Championship is back and there are only seven days separating us from the start of the competition, which will be hosted by Germany and the Netherlands.
This will be the third edition of the IHF Women’s World Championship to be co-hosted by two countries and the first since 1999, when Norway and Denmark joined hands. Five venues - two in the Netherlands and three in Germany – will be ready to welcome the teams, with the final weekend being scheduled in the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The participating teams are on the final straight and several have announced their rosters, with high-profile stars already confirmed to be at the start of the competition, such as Norway's trio of Henny Reistad, Katrine Lunde and Nora Mørk, Netherlands' Lois Abbingh, Estavana Polman and Dione Housheer, Hungary's Petra Simon and Katrin Klujber or Denmark's Anne Mette Hansen, Julie Scaglione and Althea Reinhardt.
The final rosters will be revealed on the IHF website after the technical meetings, which are due to take place one day before the start of the competition in each of the four venues which will host preliminary round matches - Trier and Stuttgart in Germany plus Rotterdam and 's-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.

The official anthem of the competition has also been launched. Uniting this edition under the title “Hands Up For More”, the official anthem will set the tone for a thrilling championship. The anthem is performed by Hamburg-based artists Lucille and Bria X, capturing the energy and spirit of the event.
Featuring powerful vocals and a message of empowerment, the song pays tribute to female athletes, urging respect, equality, and recognition in the world of handball and beyond.
