2023 ANOC World Beach Games – 100 Days to Go

Today marks just 100 days to go until the start of the second edition of the ANOC World Beach Games, which feature beach handball and are set to take place in Indonesia.

The multi-sport event featuring 14 sand-based sporting disciplines is organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) and will take place from 5 to 12 August 2023 on the island of Bali. The Games will be followed by the ANOC General Assembly (13 to 15 August). 

Beach handball is an integral part of the programme of the ANOC World Beach Games, having been confirmed as part of the core programme of sports until at least 2025.

To celebrate 100 days to go, the official ANOC World Beach Games website and ANOC.tv have both been launched.

The official ANOC World Beach Games website can be found at www.anocworldbeachgames.com and features all the information you need to discover more about Bali 2023 while the OTT (video) platform which can be found at www.ANOC.tv allows beach handball fans to watch all show court matches from the debut ANOC World Beach Games – Doha 2019 – once you have registered (free).

Beach handball will be well-represented at its Nusa Dua venue at Bali 2023 with 12 teams each in both the men’s and the women’s beach handball competitions, comprising of a total of 240 athletes ready to represent their countries.

And 20 of the 24 teams are known, with just the European and Africa qualification spots to be filled. 

The final two teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions will book their tickets to Bali in May and June, with one place each up for grabs at the European Championships from 24 to 28 May and the ANOCA African Beach Games, being played from 24 to 30 June.

Australia were the most recent nation to book their Bali 2023 place after a double gold victory in the 2023 Oceania Continent Handball Federation Men’s and Women’s Championships last weekend.

The Aussies join home nation Indonesia who qualified automatically as hosts, as well as the top five teams from the 2022 IHF Men’s and Women’s Beach Handball World Championships held in Greece last year.

The top-placed teams at the 2023 AHF Asian Beach Handball Championship, 2022 SCAHC South and Central American Beach Handball Championship and the 2022 NACHC North America and the Caribbean Beach Handball Championship have also secured their spots.

The ANOC World Beach Games is a global multi-sport event organised by ANOC. The debut edition was hosted in Qatar in 2019. It is a young and inclusive event that combines beach, water and action sports with their top athletes and connects them with a new generation of sports fans.
