12 teams line up at the start of the SCA Women’s Club Championship 2025

12 teams lined up at the start of the SCA Women’s Club Championship 2025, which will be taking place between 11 and 16 May in Santiago de Chile, Chile.

The 12 sides are representing five countries – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay – and have been divided into four groups of three teams each.

Argentina are represented by four teams – River Plate, Dorrego, Jockey Club and Sedalo – Brazil have three teams on the card, with Pinheiros, FMO/Portugues and Torrense entering the fray, while Chile are represented by two sides – Leonas and Ovalle.

Paraguay have one team, Cerro Porteno, while Uruguay have two teams at the start, Lavya and Scuola Italiana.

The competition threw off on Sunday, 11 May, as eight teams entered the fray. Reigning champions, Brazilian team EC Pinheiros, which won the title in 2022, 2023 and 2024, secured a 30:22 win against Uruguayan side Scuola Italiana in Group D.

In Group A, Argentinian side River Plate took a 28:19 win over Chilean hosts Leonas, while in Group B the other Chilean side Ovalle took a clear 28:20 win over Brazilian side Torrense, thanks to an eight-goal outing from Chilean national team player Gabriela Muller.

The clearest win of the first day of the competition came from Brazilian side FMO/Portuguesa, which took a 24:11 win against Cerro Porteno, in Group C, fortifying their claim for a medal.
