All semi-finalists determined at IHF Trophy Zone 6 Africa

The group phase at the youth and junior competitions of the Men’s IHF Trophy Zone 6 Africa in Harare, Zimbabwe finished on Wednesday, 8 May, so all the semi-finalists were named. 

In Group A of the youth (U18) tournament, South Africa beat Lesotho 26:18 after winning the first half 15:2, and Zimbabwe defeated Malawi 55:23. So Zimbabwe (six points) and South Africa (four) progressed to the semi-final, while Malawi (two) and Lesotho (no points) proceed to the Placement Matches 5-8.

In Group B, Mozambique had a big advantage over Namibia and cruised to a 54:5 win, while Zambia defeated Swaziland 43:10. Zambia won the group with six points and reached the semi-final together with Mozambique, who are on four points, while Namibia and Swaziland will go to the consolation tournament.
In the semi-finals on 10 May, Zimbabwe play Mozambique, and Zambia face South Africa. The final as well as the third-place encounter will be held on 11 May.

In the junior (U20) event, Zambia won their third straight match, this time 60:15 against South Africa, and won Group A with the maximum of six points and an impressive 183-32 goal difference. Lesotho, who beat Namibia 36:30, also went through, having four points, while South Africa and Namibia will participate in the Placement Matches 5-8.

In Group B, Zimbabwe have the maximum of points after defeating Malawi 46:16, and Mozambique finished second with four points following a 50:19 victory against Swaziland. 

The semi-finals at this age category will also be held on Friday, and Zambia will play Mozambique, while Zimbabwe are scheduled to meet Lesotho. The final and the bronze-medal match will take place on Saturday.
