Day two of the 27th IHF Men’s World Championship will feature seven competitive games, with the highlight of the day pitting together France and Norway in Group E, a duel which follows the match between neighbours Austria and Switzerland. France versus Norway will definitely be one of the games to watch in the preliminary round, as both sides won medals at Germany/Denmark 2019, with Norway winning silver and France bronze. 

Elsewhere, there will be some familiar ties, with Belarus meeting the Russian Handball Federation Team in Group H, while in Group F Morocco face Algeria, in a 100 per cent African clash on African soil and Portugal meet Iceland for the third time in 10 days, with the two teams trading wins in the Men’s EHF EURO 2022 qualification phase 2.

A young Swedish team, that features several rookies will face North Macedonia in Group G, after Danilo Brestovac’s side replaced the Czech Republic, due to several positive cases in their squad prior to the throw-off of the competition.

Egypt 2021 threw off yesterday with a clear 35:29 victory for the hosts against Chile, with left back Yahia Elderaa securing the hummel Player of the Match award, after scoring six goals. 

Prior to the first game of the competition, a celebration of Egyptian culture and handball was witnessed in the opening ceremony, led by Egypt’s Head of State, H.E President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa.
