Team Info

Germany are regular participants at the Women’s Junior World Championship, and they boasted some good results in the past - in particular, earning bronze in 2001 and winning the title in 2008.

Notably, their most successful tournament took place 16 years ago in North Macedonia - and it is a good sign for the Germans, as now the World Championship will be staged in that country once again.

Last year, Germany did not do particularly well at the Women's 19 EHF EURO 2023, but the 11th place was enough to qualify for the World Championship. And the players have made some progress since then, as most of them have been getting more and more playing time in their Bundesliga clubs.

Two of them, Viola Leuchter and Nieke Kühne, have already been called up to Germany’s senior national team. Right back Leuchter, who will move from Bayer Leverkusen to HB Ludwigsburg next season, even participated in the 2023 IHF Women’s World Championship and was named the best young player of the competition. But she will not be here, due to an injury suffered at the 2023 IHF Women's World Championship, as she is facing a race against the clock to secure a place in the Olympic Games team.

Four players - goalkeeper Marie Weiss, centre back Rebecca Rott, right wing Sabrina Tröster und line player Ida Petzold - won the German Cup with TuS Metzingen this season, so there is enough talent in Germany. And despite a tough draw, the team coached by Christopher Nordmeyer will do their best to progress from the competitive Group F and eventually rank high at the tournament.
