Placement Round (9 – 16)
Denmark – Romania 30:21 (15:9)
Consolation for Denmark
Two days after the disappointing defeat in the eight-finals against Korea the team of Denmark came to a clear 30:21 victory against Romania in their first performance in the placement round for the places 9 to 16. For the Scandinavians this success means nothing more than a little consolation after missing the quarter-finals, but now they will play for the places 9 to 12, while their competitors will go to the placement round, where they will play for the places 13 to 16. The Danish team played very well during the first 30 minutes and was logically in lead with 15:9 after the first half. A few lapses of concentration In the second half gave Romania the chance to come back into the match. The hope lasted only a few minutes until Denmark took again the reins and won in the end well-earned. Best scorer of this match was Julie Aagaard Poulsen (Denmark) with twelve goals.
