Brazil win against Czech; Japan with second victory in a row

Placement round 9 to 16

Czech Republic – Brazil 21:28 (9:12)

Brazilian victory over Czech

After the surprising and prematurely end of the Brazilian travel to the final of this Junior World Championship – they lost the eight-final against Poland – the Pan-Americans took revenge against the Czech Republic and won the first match in the placement round for the places 9 to 16 with 28:21. So after this game Brazil is going to the semifinal for the places 9 to 12 while the host of this tournament will play for the places 13 to 16. Only during the first half the Czech team was nearly an equal competitor, as the Brazilian girls were only three goals ahead (12:9) at the break. In second half Brazil became better and better, and achieved a well-earned but dull victory. Best scorer of this match was Martina Weisenbilderova (Czech Republic) with ten goals.

President's Cup 21/22:

China – Japan 21:34 (8:20)

Japan with second victory in a row

In the confrontation between China and Japan the Chinese girls didn’t have the slightest chance against a very strong competitor. Japan won the decisive match for the places 21 and 22 with 34:21 and was already on the winning streak after a superior performance during the first half. Japan was 20:8 ahead and the match was almost decided. After the break China tried to limit the damage, but Japan still was the dominating team and won well-earned after 60 one-sided minutes. So after five bad games in the preliminary round it was a conciliatory end for the team of Japan with two victories in the last two games in this Junior World Championship. Best scorers were the two Japanese players Hirona Watanabe and Yoshie Takeshita, who both scored nine goals.
