The Dutch win the President´s Cup
In the final of the President´s Cup the Netherlands won against Uruguay with 47:30 and leave the tournament with a sense of achievement. After this Women’s Junior World Championship was very disappointing for them, as they missed the knockout stages unexpectedly, they showed a strong performance in their last match and made it up to place 17 in the final ranking of this tournament. After the first 30 minutes the Dutch team was in lead with 21:14, but nevertheless it took them another strong 30 minutes to beat their competitors from Uruguay. The Pan-American players, however, weren´t disappointed after this match: The 18th place in the final ranking is nearly the result they expected. Best scorers of this match were the Dutch players Lois Abbingh and Celine Michielsen with eight goals each.
Placement round (9 - 16)
Spain – Croatia 21:22 (10:14)
Croatia beats Spain
In the last match of the first round of the placement matches for the places 9 to 16 Croatia achieved a tightly 22:21 victory against Spain. So now the Balkan team will play against Austria for the places 9 to 12 and Spain is looking forward to the match against Congo in the placement round for the places 13 to 16. The team of Croatia showed a very good performance during the first half and achieved a 14:10 lead after the first 30 minutes. In the second period of the match Croatia only acted undistinguished but was nevertheless able to defend their tight advantage without big efforts and won at the end.
