Eighth-finals 4: Germany in good shape, Serbia complete Quarterfinal

Germany vs. Brazil 35:26 (18:12) 

Germany underlined its ambitions in the eighth-finals. The team of head coach Christian Schwarzer presented themselves from their best side against the South Americans and played especially in defense superbly. This was the basis for a lot of short breaks. The strong performance of the Europeans decided the game already in the first half. Germany was already after 30 minutes on the road to victory. In the second half, the Germans stayed focused. Brazil tried everything, but Germany had always an answer. Therefore, the clear victory of the Germans was well deserved. Germany will play in the quarterfinals against Slovenia on Tuesday, 20 August.

Serbia vs. Qatar 27:24 (10:10)

It would had been a big surprise: A few minutes after the half time break Qatar took the lead against favorite Serbia by 12:10. The spectators in Erd followed an equal game during the first half. However, after lagging in the beginning of the second half time, the Europeans remembered their strength. The match became exciting again and also stayed like this for a long time. Only in the last few minutes, when the team from head coach Silvio Ivandija lost a little bit power, the Serbs could increase to an advantage. The victory from Serbia hardly earned. Serbia complet the field of quarter finalists.
