21 Aug. 2013

Semi-Final 2
Denmark vs. Spain 32:23 (17:13)
Nobody can stop the Danish team! Denmark need after their 32:23 victory of the semi-final match against Spain only one more step to defend their title from the previous Men’s Youth World Championships. This semi-final was the remake of the 2011 final. Scandinavians acted from the beginning on like champions. The talents from head coach Claus Hansen showed a strong performance. They took the lead early in the first half and led by four goals after 30 minutes. For a short moment after the break the Spaniards found a more successful way to attack the Danish defence. At the moment when the Danes found back to their concentration, they were clearly on the road to victory. Denmark won deserved by 32:23 and is after this perfect performance now the favorite for the gold medal. For the third time in the history of Men’s Youth World Championships the Danish team reached the final. They won the title 2007 and 2011. All good thinks come in threes in 2013?
Placement round 13-16
France vs. Qatar 29:22 (13:13)
Qatar was a strong opponent for the French team. More than 40 minutes both teams fought on eye level. Only in the final part the Europeans used their last reserves and with this physical power they decided the match. The time before was more a friendly match. The players of France made a tired impression. But also the talents from Qatar had been playing seven matches in the previous 12 days.
In the end France won the match and will now meet Egypt in their last match of the tournament. The Qataris will play against Austria.
