IHF Trophy Oceania threw off in Rarotonga

Monday 5 December was the opening day of the Men's IHF Trophy Oceania in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, and it featured five matches of the youth and junior competitions.
At the youth (U18) event, home side Cook Islands enjoyed a good start, beating Tonga 21:15. New Zealand defeated Australia 29:10, notably conceding just two goals in the opening 30 minutes. Besides, Tahiti proved too strong for New Caledonia, taking a comfortable 38:29 victory.
On Tuesday 6 December, Tahiti are scheduled to meet Australia at 10:00 (local time), Tonga play New Caledonia at 14:00, and New Zealand face Cook Islands at 16:00.
At the junior (U20) competition, Australia had the upper hand against New Caledonia in an entertaining match, 30:28, while Cook Islands defeated Tonga 31:25.
Day two will also feature two games, as Tonga face Australia at 12:00, and New Zealand will play their opening match at the tournament against the hosts Cook Islands at 18:00. New Caledonia will have a rest day.
