  • Germany have come from a four-goal deficit against Russia to take the win, 34:31, in the semi-final, while Hungary beat the People’s Republic of China, 40:36, in the other semi-final

  • The top attack in the competition is People’s Republic of China, who scored 193 goals in four matches, followed by Germany (176 goals). Hungary is fourth (151 goals)

  • Germany (88 goals) and China (90 goals) are also the top defences in the competition in terms of goals conceded, while Hungary have conceded 110 goals

  • Russia and China both lost one match so far, in the semi-finals, but for the Asian side the match is crucial, as the bronze medal would be the first one won in an IHF Women’s World Championship

  • Egypt face Belarus in the Placement Match 5/6, having won three matches in a row after their disappointing opener against Russia, when they lost, 29:41

  • A North American derby between USA and Mexico will open the day in the competition, with both sides trying to win their first match and avoid the last place
