ITA to host webinar on Therapeutic Use Exemptions on 31 March

The International Testing Agency (ITA) is set to host its next monthly clean sport webinar on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, between 14:00 and 15:00 CEST, with the topic of Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs) taking centre stage.

TUEs are, as the ITA describes them, an important aspect of anti-doping that athletes and their support personnel need to be familiar with and understand. They authorise athletes to participate in sport while using a medication or method of treatment that is prohibited as per the World Anti-Doping Agency's Prohibited List, making it essential that everyone involved in sport has a clear and thorough understanding of how the process works, when it applies and what it entails.

Leading attendees through the webinar will be former Olympian Nikki Hamlin OLY, who will serve as moderator, alongside Pedro Gonçalves, ITA Science & Medical Project Manager, who will be on hand to address the most frequently asked questions surrounding TUEs.

Among the topics to be covered are: who should apply for a TUE, whether a retroactive TUE is possible, what the criteria are for granting a TUE and how long the process takes, and where and when athletes can submit their application, as well as many more essential questions that athletes and support staff regularly face.

As with previous ITA webinars, time will be set aside at the end of the session to address questions from attendees live, ensuring participants have the opportunity to raise any specific concerns or points of clarification directly.

The webinar will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation available in four additional languages: Arabic, French, Russian  and Spanish, reflecting the ITA's commitment to making clean sport education as accessible as possible to the global sporting community.

Registration for the webinar is open now. Click here to secure your place and join the ITA on 31 March for this important and informative session.
