The inaugural edition of the AHF Asian Men’s U-17 Handball Championship will throw off on 15 September, in Amman, Jordan, with 13 teams at the start.

The competition will be a qualification event for the 2025 IHF Men’s U17 World Championship, the inaugural edition of this competition, due to take place between 24 October and 1 November in Casablanca, Morocco.

The top two sides – the finalists – will secure their tickets to the 2025 IHF Men’s U17 World Championship, with the 13 participating teams at the AHF Asian Men’s U-17 Handball Championship being divided into four groups – three groups of three teams and one group of four teams respectively.

The top two sides in each group will progress to the main round, with the top two sides in each of the two groups in the main round making it to the semi-finals.

The competition was due to take place between 1 and 11 July, but it was postponed, with the 13 participating teams now ready to measure their forces throughout the 10 days of competition, with the winner crowned on 25 September.

In Group A, Kuwait, Bahrain and Hong Kong-China, will fight for the top two places, with another well-balanced group seeing Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the People’s Republic of China competing for the top two places in Group B.

In Group C, hosts Jordan, the Chinese Taipei and India will try and secure their berths, while in Group D, the Republic of Korea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Maldives and Syria aiming to progress to the next phase of the competition.

The preliminary round will take place on 15, 16 and 17 September, with a rest day separating the start of the main round from the preliminary round. The main round matches are scheduled for 19, 20 and 21 September, with the semi-finals ready to take place on 23 September.

The bronze medal match and the big final, where the first winner of the competition will be crowned, will be played on 25 September.
