IHF and Molten release official ball for the 2025 IHF Men's World Championship
22 Oct. 2024
Molten, the official ball supplier of the International Handball Federation, presented the official ball of the 29th IHF Men’s World Championship, which is due to take place in five over three countries between 14 January and 2 February 2025, the first edition of the competition to be held in three different countries.
This marks the sixth edition of an IHF Men’s World Championship edition when Molten, an official partner of the International Handball Federation (IHF), supplies the official match ball, after the maiden competition was the 2015 IHF Men’s World Championship in Qatar.
The new A5000 Croatia/Denmark/Norway 2025 Edition handball was developed based on the A5000 Handball, the official ball for international competitions held by the International Handball Federation (IHF). The special edition ball features a custom design using the national colours of the three organising countries, featuring the red and white of Croatia, Denmark and Norway, while the blue of Norway and Croatia is also represented.
The slogan of the current edition of the IHF Men’s Handball World Championship is "Inspired by Handball." The logo design uses a comet as a motif, and the ball was designed based on the desire for handball topics to travel around the world like a comet and for children inspired by such topics to start playing handball. The logo and the motto of the 2025 IHF Men’s World Championship are also present on the ball.
The A5000 is the official ball of all international IHF competitions and “features a premium cover material which provides exceptional grip, improved ball control, and accuracy, making it an ideal choice for the highest level of competition,” as stated by Molten. By using softer and better-gripping material for the cover material, it is easier to grip the ball with the fingers, and the surface contact area has increased, while part of the materials for the new ball have been changed from synthetic materials to natural materials, and by reducing the amount of ink used in printing, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 15%.
The Japanese company, which is a long-time partner of the IHF, has provided the official ball of the competition for the past five consecutive editions while also being the official supplier for all competitions organised under the aegis of the International Handball Federation.
