Countdown starts, with 100 days to go until the start of the 2025 IHF Men's World Championship

Tick-tock, do you hear the clock ticking? Yes, it is that moment of the year when you become aware that the global men's flagship event is just around the corner, with Sunday, 6 October 2024, marking the start of the home run stretch before the throw-off of the 29th IHF Men’s World Championship, due to take place in five venues in Croatia, Denmark and Norway.

The scene has been set for the start of the competition, with the countdown starting for the two opening matches, which will take place on 14 January 2025 between Italy and Tunisia in the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, as well as between France and Qatar, in the Žatika Sport Centre in Poreč.

Over the last few months, everything has been set for the start, as the schedule has been revealed, as well as the official mascot of the competition, which has been revealed to be a fox, as it stood out as the most unique animal habited in all three countries.

The 29th IHF Men's World Championship will also be the first one in history to be hosted in three countries, after the two editions in 2019 and 2023 were the two which were hosted by two countries.

Teams prepare for their opponents

The draw for the competition was held at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, Croatia, where the 32 participating teams learnt their fate for the preliminary round of the 29th edition of the world handball flagship competition on 29 May 2024.

Undoubtedly, the group which will be the most balanced is Group A, where four European teams will face off for a place in the main round, as Germany, Czechia, Poland and wild card Switzerland are due to face off in a battle for the ages.
