Name the mascot for Poland/Sweden 2023!

On Sunday 20 March, the mascot of the 2023 IHF Men’s World Championship has been revealed in the half-time break of the friendly match between the co-hosts of the IHF men’s flagship event – Poland and Sweden – and over the course of this week, fans have the chance to propose names for the mascot via social media.

The mascot of Poland/Sweden 2023 is a red squirrel dressed in a branded dark blue jersey, white shorts and blue sneakers, acting as a handball player, wearing the jersey number 23. The squirrel with its characteristic tufted ears is common both in Poland and Sweden and, therefore, was considered the perfect choice.

However, the mascot has not been named yet and from 21 to 27 March, fans from all over the world have the chance to submit their proposals via the respective posts on the Facebook pages of the International Handball Federation, the Polish Handball Federation and the Swedish Handball Federation.

The three best proposals will then be put to an online vote, running from 28 March to 4 April 2022.
