Group B: Poland and Cameroon to bounce back – or RHF and Serbia to advance to main round?

It is a key game for the Poland team today at Llíria as they face RHF, who, themselves, want to secure their second win and the ticket to the main round. In the second game of the day, Serbia also look to seal their berth to the next stage in the match against Cameroon, who fell short to RHF in their first game of the tournament.

Poland vs RHF 18:00 CET

Poland are desperately looking for their first win at the 25th IHF Women’s World Championship after falling short in their opening match against Serbia on Friday night (21:25). It will be crucial for the Polish team to start off stronger than against Serbia where they had a slow start into the game and were never able to comeback. In addition, Poland need to improve their 7m shooting, which was at 33% only.

RHF on the other hand come in with lots of confidence thanks to the impressive 40:18 opening win against Cameroon. RHF enter the game well rested as coach Liudmila Bodnieva was able to distribute the playing time of her players evenly due to the clear result in the second half of their opening game.

Serbia vs Cameroon 20:30

Serbia need another strong performance against Cameroon to seal their berth for the main round. After winning a close game against Poland to start their campaign at this year’s World Championship, the Serbia side are the favorites in this second game of the day.

Cameroon had an impressive start in their first game against RHF, surprising the favorites and the audience. Lack of consistency and of course RHF’s experience and strength then led the way to a clear result. However, the African side proved that they want to have a say in Group B. If they want to have a solid chance against Serbia, the shooting efficiency needs to go up, though.

Serbia will focus on Andela Janjusevic and Jovana Stoiljkovic offensively, who both had a tremendous game against Poland, contributing seven and six goals, respectively.
