The last time when the Chinese Taipei was at the IHF Womenā€™s Junior World Championship was in 2008, with the competition also hosted by North Macedonia, as the Asian side finished on the 17th place.
It was the fourth appearance for the Chinese Taipei, which had previously finished 11th in 1991, 16th in 1999 and 19th in 2001, having always been an interesting team to play against, but failing to deliver the results which would have seen them end up in the top-10 of the world handball flagship competition.
16 years later, with the competition hosted again by North Macedonia, the Chinese Taipei are returning, after having finished on the fourth place at the 2023 AHF Asian Women's Junior Handball Championship.
There, they won two matches, 25:22 against India and 28:18 against the Islamic Republic of Iran, drawing against Uzbekistan, 37:37, and losing against the Peopleā€™s Republic of China, 14:27, in the preliminary round.
The Asian side failed to deliver in the knockout phase, when they faced eventual champions, the Republic of Korea, conceding a 21:40 loss in the semi-finals, and another painful loss against Japan, 23:43, in the bronze medal match.
Japan will be once again one of the opponents of the Chinese Taipei in Group D, with the Asian side needing to produce a huge uptick in their performance were they to challenge for a place in the main round, especially with some excellent opponents in Denmark and Norway, alongside Japan.
